Sara Irwin

Sara Irwin

I joined Christ Church in:
2005

I have held this position since:
I was officially called rector in 2009, though had been here on contract agreements before then.

What I would like to accomplish in my position:
I am excited for Christ Church to continue to connect deeply with Waltham and find creative ways to share our faith. I am passionate about hospitality, social justice, and helping everyone to connect to the right ministry for them.

My favorite thing about CC is:
what a great spread of ages we have! As a parent I love that my kids have lots of friends and I love that we have people in their twenties and thirties in leadership as well as those in their seventies and eighties. I also love how faithful this community is to God and one another.

A Fun Fact about me is:
They are mostly covered up on Sunday mornings, but I love tattoos! I now have two almost-half sleeves, one with birds and flowers and my children’s names, and one that says “caritas” (love in Latin) and elements from stained glass windows at Christ Church and Grace Episcopal Church in Medford. The labyrinth on my ankle was my ordination present to myself when I became a priest in 2005, and I have a few others, too.
