It is good to be back with you after my vacation. I return refreshed and very grateful for all who cared so faithfully for our parish during my absence—especially Deacon Clifford, Kris, Altar Guild, and the Vestry. I also give thanks for our staff, and in particular for Gerry, our office manager, whose steady leadership kept things running smoothly.
As we step into this new season, I am reminded that September often feels like a “second New Year.” The rhythm of life shifts, and we are invited to renew our commitments—both to God and to one another. This is a season of fresh beginnings, and I believe God is calling us to step forward with faith, courage, and joy.
We have much to celebrate in the months ahead: the Blessing of the Animals in October, our International Dinner, Jazz Mass, Christmas Carols, and more. These events are not only fun gatherings—they are signs of the Spirit alive in our midst, drawing us together in fellowship and joy.
But renewal also asks us to look to the future. Our capital campaign to restore our church and its beautiful windows is vital for generations yet to come. This is more than a building project—it is an act of stewardship, preserving the place where countless prayers have been offered for generations, and where God will continue to be worshiped for years ahead. Every hand, every gift, every talent matters. If you feel called to help, please step forward.
We are also seeking new members for the Vestry. Leadership in the church is not just administration—it is a ministry of prayer, discernment, and service. Perhaps God is stirring something in you. If so, please speak with me, Kris or Deacon Clifford.
Another source of hope and inspiration is our young adults. They are a gift to this parish, and now is the time to give them a space to gather, share ideas, and deepen their walk with Christ. If you are a young adult, I warmly invite you to connect with Davina or Deacon Clifford as this important ministry begins.
Finally, I want to express my heartfelt thanks to Bill Weber, Zina, and all who cared for the flowers while I was away. Your dedication added beauty to gardens, our gardens, and lifted the spirits of many people who admire our flowers. Our sunflowers are blooming because of your dedication–thank you. Remember–each sunflower reminds us of the fallen people of Ukraine!
My beloved, this is a season of renewal. Let us embrace it with gratitude for what God has done, with hope for what God is doing now, and with faith in what God will bring forth in the future. I look forward to seeing you at worship this Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., as we continue this journey together.
